  • Proposal Description & Rationale*

Course description change: The current course description in the catalogue is at least 15 years old and is not an accurate representation of the material covered in the course.

Remove prerequisite of CHEM 150: Consensus among faculty teaching this course is that this prereq is not actually needed for success in the course and it serves as a bottleneck for some of our students in this freshman level course.

Add in option to teach BIO 113 in a hybrid format: We believe offering this important foundational course in a hybrid format (online lecture and in-person lab) will be an attractive option for some students.

Why are you proposing this? Be concise, but thorough. IF you are proposing a special topics course, how many times has the topic been offered? (Topics can only be offered twice before needing approval as a standalone course)
  • This Change*
Is *non-substantive* if you are only changing prereqs, coreqs, concurrent enrollment, instructional format, cross-listing, course title, or creating a new special topics course. All other changes are substantive.
  • Impacts to other programs AND/OR other proposals in larger proposal package

BIO 113 is an auxiliary course for the Biochemistry and Biochemistry Secondary Education majors. This change should not affect these other majors.

For impacts to other programs, simply say, "Impacts: " and then list the programs/courses in question. To denote other proposals in a larger package, say, "Tandem proposals: " and then list the programs/courses in question.
