In this course, students learn User Interface design and explore the elements of developing for the web in HTML and CSS. Information organization, visual design, human interface/usability, content management systems and accessibility issues are addressed.
Create a new Class – MK 340 Web Development I that will be cross-listed with CIS 340 (the same class). CIS 340 already exists.
Rationale: Both marketing and CIS students need to know how to develop websites and the technologies/platforms associated with website development. Having both classes and cross listing the courses allows us to optimize faculty resources in the CIS and Marketing programs.
This change will also facilitate an interdisciplinary classroom in which CIS and Marketing students work together.
MK 450 is being deleted. Students can take MK 340 as a substitute for MK 450. If a student has already taken MK 450, they may take MK 340 because the course contents are sufficiently different.
This will increase Marketing Electives in the Marketing Major by one. When all Marketing Major proposals are complete, the list of Marketing Major Electives will go from 8 to 6. The change for Marketing Majors will be to complete 2 out of the 6 instead of 3 out of the 8.
MK 340 will be a required course in the new (also being Proposed) Digital Marketing Certificate (which will become Foundations in Digital Marketing).
